Web developer

Job description

The applicant will be responsible for developing new features on travelplanet24.com, maintaining existing features, developing user-friendly interfaces and implementing business logic rules.The right candidate will participate in planning, developing, releasing and maintaining existing and new products on our travel booking engines across Europe. His/Her task will be to collaborate with other software engineers, designers and business managers to create usable and scalable features in our web applications. The right candidate will be writing automated tests, server- and client-side code according to agile specification of the products. He/She will be in charge of writing readable, maintainable code using design patterns and high quality standards

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of the MVC pattern in Web Applications
  • Proven experience with Javascript and jQuery
  • Programming according to "graceful degradation", "progressive enhancement", "cross-browser compatibility" rules
  • Ability to generate dynamic HTML using Zend Framework's view layer
  • Being able to produce semantic HTML
  • Strong understanding of web architecture (HTTP, REST, hypermedia)

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Git, GNU/Linux
  • Using ORM for database access
  • Knowing design patterns/anti-patterns
  • Being comfortable with test-driven development (PHPUnit)
  • Experience with AJAX, CSS and ActionScript

As a Web Designer, you will join our development team and will be responsible for our web site’s design. You will be responsible for the design of our website and our marketing material (Newsletters, banners, micro sites, etc.). You must be capable of creating visually appealing and functional forms/engines/websites and also be the interface between design, development and marketing.
